The Community Champions program is a locally led effort by KLEM Radio and area businesses to recognize young adult professionals making a difference in the Le Mars community. Kyan was nominated for the award for his involvement with the Le Mars YMCA, where he serves as the Board President. Kyan is also a board member of the Le Mars United Way.

Kyan grew up in Le Mars and attended college at the University of Northern Iowa. While in college, Kyan worked in the IT department for John Deere in Waterloo, Iowa, remaining with the organization for two years after he graduated from UNI. Kyan accepted a position as NIPCO Computer Systems Specialist in 2018, returning him to his hometown. He believes in giving back to his community and witnessing how service on local boards positively impacts the community where he and his wife, Ashley, are raising their son, Ollie, and look forward to the birth of their second child in the coming weeks.
